This is a guide on how to stop smoking marijuana.

This is a short guide on how to quit smoking marijuana. You should stick to this step by step process for a minimum of 21 days, as studies have shown that you need to do something for at least that period of time for it to become a natural part of your lifestyle.

Step 1: Write down what you want to achieve.

You need to write down your own personal goal of quitting smoking pot. By writing down your goal, you will have better success achieving it. Studies have shown that people who write their goals tend to reach their goals more often than those who don’t write their goals down.

Be specific in your goals. Write down the exact date when you want to quit. Write down the date when you wrote the goal down. Sign your name so you can stay more committed to achieving this goal.

Step 2: Know exactly why you want to quit smoking marijuana.

Why is it that you want to do this? Look deep inside yourself, and ask yourself what you stand to gain from giving this habit up. Once you know your inner reason, keep it at the forefront of your mind and come back to it whenever you feel tempted to smoke again.

Once you have clarity on why you want to quit, then you will have all the leverage and motivation you need to do whatever it takes to achieve your new goal. Without having clarity, you will almost certainly fail, as when you feel tempted to smoke again, you will have no real reason not to.

Step 3: Don’t keep it a secret.

It helps to share your goal with others. That’s because once you tell other people, there is that added pressure to really achieve your goal so you won’t lose face. You will also have moral support available to you when you most need it.

Step 4: Find a replacement activity.

If you are currently smoking a lot of marijuana, then the chances are that you don’t spend a lot of time doing activities other things. That is why you want to discover those passions that you used to love prior to smoking before.

An La Times medical reporter interviewed a group of doctors that were researching the benefits of medical marijuana. The issue of whether marijuana has any medical benefits is all determined on whom you ask–should marijuana be labeled with the dangerous drugs like PCP and heroin, or is it a miracle herb that has an abundance of uses and is being suppressed by the government–perhaps its something in between: an herb with tremendous medical benefits yet with drawbacks, worth looking into.

As the political campaigning over medical marijuana continues, a small group of scientist are investigating the effects on how inhaled marijuana treats nausea, pain, and muscle spasms

The researchers point out that all drugs carry risks–when you look into most medicine cabinets in American households, you will find them filled with aspirins, antihistamines, and pain killers. What doctors try to do is weigh the positives versus the negatives of what the medicine can do and from there they reach a decision–why not for marijuana as well, some researchers are asking.

The truth, say researchers, is that marijuana has medical benefits that assist with those living with cancer pain, multiple sclerosis, nausea associated with chemo therapy, and chronic pain syndromes. Research has shown that the risks associated with marijuana are real but generally small. Newer medical discoveries of the medicinal benefits of marijuana have been since hindered the research team says.

Dr. Donald Abrams, chief of hematology and oncology at San Francisco General Hospital and professor of clinical medicine at UC San Francisco, says he sees cancer patients in pain, not eating or sleeping well, experiencing nausea and vomiting from treatment, and being depressed about their situation.

He notes that he finds joy that he resides in California where the use of medical marijuana is permitted by state law, even though federal enforcement continually raiding cannabis shops in the state and also scrutinize physicians who accept cannabis as a form of treatment for the patient.

“I can talk to patients about medicinal cannabis [and] I’m often recommending it to them for these indications,” Abrams says.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes has a history that goes back thousands of years. The plant was used all throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Africa for ailments like earaches, child birth, stress relief, and pain relief.

Medical researchers have recently began to investigate marijuana’s effects on various kinds of pain such as damaged nerves in people with HIV, diabetes and spinal cord injury; to cancer; and from multiple sclerosis.

For the past three plus decades, Dr. Reindhurst has studied the medicinal effects that nirvana seeds have been used in history. She has a web site full of information on the nirvana seeds and the many uses it has had throughout human civilization.

To most people Canada is a country known for its tolerance and pleasant citizens, its logging industry, ice hockey, and in recent years Canada is known for marijuana. More specifically marijuana that comes from British Columbia. Canada’s economy is helped by the cultivation and distribution of marijuana, and in British Columbia alone, marijuana has become a $10 billion per year industry.

Unlike the United States, Canada has become very tolerant of private consumption of marijuana, and the laws in Canada have allowed the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Canada has become a safe haven and a popular tourist destination for those that smoke marijuana. Many have claimed refugee status because Canada has become a much more open and tolerant country towards the use of marijuana.

Within the past 10 years the marijuana industry has been booming, not only including the Marijuana Party of Canada, but there are numerous stores that cater to those who use marijuana including seed stores, and head shops. How marijuana was perceived in Canada 80 years ago is the same as how marijuana was perceived in the United States during the same time.

Canada’s recent policies towards the consumption of marijuana is a much welcome change from how it all began during the’30s. Not only is marijuana in Canada tolerated to a certain degree, but many of Canada’s citizens now understand through proper education that marijuana is much more beneficial than it is harmful.

Canada’s marijuana policies have allowed many of its citizens to earn a living growing marijuana with light penalties. British Columbia is seen as the Shangri-La of the Canadian marijuana industry because of the amount of grow houses that have sprung up within the past 10 years. British Columbia also has its own brand of marijuana called “BC bud,” marijuana has benefited Canada’s economy through other means as well. Including retail stores that sell supplies to the growers, and the growers themselves using their hard-earned money to purchase luxury items.

What makes the marijuana industry in Canada different from other countries is the fact that it is not directly tied to organized crime, a small percentage of it is, but the majority of the marijuana trade is run by small grow houses that can bring in around $2200 a pound. In countries such as Mexico their drug trade is synonymous with organized crime, and it is seen as a dangerous place to do business with. Most of the marijuana that comes out of Canada can find its way around various parts of the United States bringing in close to $6000 a pound the farther it gets from the Canadian border.

Canada’s laws, and general understanding of the medicinal purposes and economic benefits of marijuana have made Canada the world leader in marijuana use when compared to other industrialized nations. That may not be a proud thing for most Canadians, but considering the fact that the benefits of marijuana reach far beyond medicinal purposes, marijuana can be a good thing for Canada; as a commodity and for Canada setting an example for other countries to follow in the future. Once lawmakers in Canada realize the good that can come from marijuana it is only a matter of time for the world as a whole to view marijuana the same way that Canada does.

For almost 2.5 million people, daily aching, stiff cramping muscles is just a regular way of life when living with Multiple Sclerosis. Another 15 million people with spinal chord injuries must cope daily with similar pains as those with MS, but also limited movement which takes away the sleep these patients need.

Several conventional medications are available to help mitigate some of the discomfort, yet they rarely provide the patient with total relief. These conventional drugs often times cause weakness, make the patient constantly sleepy, and has side effects that many of the patients find intolerable such as constant constipation.

Given this outlook, it is not hard to understand why some people with multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries have sought relief through marijuana as it has shown to reduce pain and muscle spasms.

Patients of spinal chord injuries and MS also said they valued the drug because it relieved nausea or helped them sleep. A’82 study of people with spinal cord injuries, found that 21 of 43 of the case studies reported that marijuana lessened muscle spasticity (a condition in which muscles tense reflexively and resist stretching), while nearly every participant in a’97 survey of 112 regular marijuana users with multiple sclerosis replied that the drug lessened both pain and spasticity.

This study is not intended to show that all people who suffer from MS find relief simply those who use marijuana do.

Animal research demonstrates that marijuana reduces muscle spasticity. Spasms are theorized to occur in areas of the brain that manage movement, including various areas that have abundant cannabinoid receptors.

One such experiment showed that when rodents receive small doses of cannabinoids they become more active, yet when they receive higher doses they are less active

Many marijuana users also note that the drug affects movement, making their bodies sway and their hands unsteady.

It’s still unknown how the compounds of the cannabinoids create this effect. With all of the findings that suggest the plant has anecdotal properties, clinical research remains largely untested.

Very few reports are helpful because they are limited in the amount of people and in general hard to find.

Still, the lack of good universally effective medicine for muscle spasticity is a compelling reason to continue exploring cannonaded drugs in the clinic.

For three decades, Dr. Julian Reindhurst has studies the medicinal benefits of marijuana. He currently has a blog that gives the historical perspective of how nirvana seeds benefited other ancient civilizations. He also has a website site that looks at the medicinal benefits of the nirvana seeds.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes has a history that goes back thousands of years– the herb has been used for all sorts of aliments such as a stress reliever in India, to subsiding child birth pains. Its uses can be traced all throughout Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Medical research recently has also unearthed in the past decade marijuana’s effects on various kinds of pains. These range from damaged nerves in people that have HIV, diabetic treatment, and spinal injuries–marijuana has also shown promise to patients with cancer and Multiple Sclerosis.

Marijuana has also been speculated to help with nausea brought on by chemotherapy and antiretroviral therapy, as well as with severe loss of appetite as seen in people with the AIDS wasting syndrome.

Marijuana is effective with these actions due to the active ingredients of tetrahydro cannabinol (THC) and some 60 other cannabinoids, which mimic the action of chemicals that are known as endogenous cannabinoids, and exist naturally in the brain. Those cannabinoids activate receptors in our nerves, triggering physiological responses.

The only legal extract of THC currently available is Marinol however the results are not evn close to the effects of naturally smoked medical marijuana. Taken orally, its absorption is highly variable and unpredictable and often delayed, says Dr. Igor Grant, a UC San Diego psychiatrist who directs the university’s Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research. “Smoking is a very efficient way to deliver THC,” he mentions.

The consequences of marijuana being considered federally as a illegal drug, limits is use to specified clinics and to patients in states like Colorado that have created laws that allow marijuana for personal medical use.

The only research regarding medical marijuana, comes from the US government issued marijuana cigarettes that come in varying strengths and are supplied to the NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse).

The University of California Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research in San Diego helps coordinate clinical studies to investigate the safety and effectiveness of marijuana and they’ve discovered in their studies related to neuropathic pain, Multiple sclerosis, and nausea.

On August 18, 2008 A La Times medical reporter interviewed a group of doctors that were researching the benefits of medical marijuana. Depending on the audience, marijuana is just as dangerous a drug as PCP and heroin and therefore should be kept illegal, or it’s a wonder herb that is just bursting with unknown benefits and is being suppressed by the government–or perhaps its a little bit of both: a plant with tremendous benefits as well as drawbacks, yet worth looking into.

While the political arguments continue over medical marijuana, a group of researchers continues to investigate the effects of inhaled marijuana to treat muscle spasms, nausea, and pain.

Researchers say that their findings show that marijuana does have medical benefits– for chronic pain syndromes, cancer pains, AIDS wasting syndrome, nausea associated with chemo therapy, and multiple sclerosis. The research is hindered so progress is slow as they try to harness and understand all of the plants benefits. Another discovery has been that although there are real risks attached to marijuana, they are generally small.

Medical marijuana use has a history stretching back thousands of years. In those times, the herb was used as medicinal tea in China, a stress remedy in India and a pain reliever for situations like earaches, childbirth and more throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

recently, there have been studies to test the effect on how marijuana treats people with spinal injuries, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and anxiety.

For the 30 years, Dr. Julian Reindhurst has studies the medicinal benefits of marijuana. He currently has a blog that gives the historical perspective of how nirvana seeds benefited other ancient civilizations. He maintains a site that looks at the medicinal benefits of the nirvana seeds.

The use of marijuana for medical purposes has a history that goes back thousands of years– the herb has been used for all sorts of aliments such as a stress reliever in India, to subsiding child birth pains. Its uses can be traced all throughout Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

The whole topic of marijuana addiction is riddled with controversy. It tends to get either all the wrong type of attention or just no attention at all. On one hand, the evidence that it is addictive in the same way that tobacco, caffeine, or cocaine is addictive is well – weak. Then you have the claims of real people talking about their marijuana addiction, and the description sounds like that of any hard drug addiction. Whatever the case may be, drug rehabilitation centers around the country admit thousands of users each year who seek help with their relationship to marijuana.

To say the prospect of going to rehab is scary or intimidating is only pointing out the obvious. For many, they say it’d be like going to prison – except you can still get drugs in prison! For the record, rehab is far from the prison experience. This article will take a look at what you can count on happening if you go into a detox program for marijuana addiction.

1. Expect a structured, scheduled environment. This means that you will be kept busy with things to do. Don’t worry, time is also certainly allotted towards relation, rest, personal interests, and so on. But what it does mean is that you will have a schedule you are expected to follow. It also means you will not have many decisions or choices to make as to what to do with your time in a broader sense.

2. Personal counseling and therapy. Expect to talk one to one with someone about your drug use, drug history, and your goals in life and your goals in coming to rehab. Personal therapy may be a staple of your rehab experience or just a spare activity.

3. Expect group therapy sessions. This will likely happen very often in rehab, going to group therapy. This provides a safe setting for people to share their stories, connect with another, and offer support to the group. You will not be forced to participate but you will probably want to do so after experiencing one or two sessions.

4. You’ll be given time to exercise. This means usually something simple like hiking but could even mean weight training or swimming, depending on the rehab facility. Exercise offers so many benefits, especially for someone in recovery, that most rehab centers want to get you exercising as part of your road map.

5. You will be given time for rest and even a sort of religious practice. Many people find strength in their faith during a drug addiction program, and rehab centers recognize this by giving you room for such an experience if you feel so inclined. No pressure is going to be put you on, but you will usually have time for “personal rest” and relaxation, which may include spiritual or religious activities.

Confessing up to a drug problem takes real bravery. Marijuana addiction is such as distorted subject in our culture that it makes it even harder when it’s a problem for you. Going into rehab is a huge step in taking control of that problem. By reading this article, you should be mentally prepared for what to face upon admittance into a marijuana addiction treatment facility.

Marijuana addiction is a subject that gets either little attention or all the wrong type of attention. Their is ample evidence that is neither as addictive nor as destructive as legal drugs such as caffeine or tobacco, yet there is also the real world experience of users who claim they are indeed addicted to using this plant to get high. Either way, every year, drug rehab facilities see the admittance of thousands of people seeking help with their behavior in regards to marijuana usage.

To say the prospect of going to rehab is scary or intimidating is only pointing out the obvious. This article will take a look at what you can count on happening if you go into a detox program for marijuana addiction.

1. A scheduled environment with a lot of structure. This is done to keep people busy and active, not bored and left to themselves. Don’t fret – ample opportunity is given to relaxation and personal time, but do expect their to be a schedule that everyone follows for meals and activities.

2. You’ll have therapy. One on one therapy will likely be on the first things you’ll do at a rehab center. This will usually mean going over your drug history, your reasons for coming to rehab, and your goals in life.

3. Expect to see group therapy, with optional participation. You will very likely meet with others dealing with the same problem, although not necessary the same drug of choice, to discuss their personal struggles and success. Participating will be encouraged but not enforced. You should be made to feel comfortable if you choose to only listen and not talk. However, you will get more out of the session by sharing yourself with others.

4. You’ll be given time to exercise. This means usually something simple like hiking but could even mean weight training or swimming, depending on the rehab facility. Exercise offers so many benefits, especially for someone in recovery, that most rehab centers want to get you exercising as part of your road map.

If you have a reasonable suspicion that someone you know or love has become addicted to drugs, this article will present to you signs and behavior to watch out for. Depending on the substance involved, addiction behaviors can change considerably. However, there are a few themes that are come about from any addictive habit that will be apparent.

Addiction has a dramatic effect on the body. Someone who is hiding a drug addiction will often have to mask behavior manifestations of their addiction as they become apparent via various physical signs. Behaviors to note include someone having an excess of energy leading to fast movements, fast talking, and stay up all night. At the same time, other drugs may cause a slowing down of the bodies movement, slower, hazy speech, and a confused demeanor. Sudden weight loss is common with many drugs known as uppers.

For smoked substances, a nagging cough may be present. Users of substances injected with a needle might have a predisposition for wearing long sleeve shirts to hide track marks, wearing such items even when the weather is not appropriate for it. Speed can cause severe dental issues to develop over time. Another physical sign would be the actual presence of drug paraphernalia and related items, such as pipes, foil, lighters, rolling papers, and so on.

Drug abuse has no less effect on the mind than it does the body. Abusing drugs tends to lead to rapid changes in emotions and behavior and ones mental mindset. If someone changes inexplicably, has rapid mood changes, suffers from anxiety or paranoid delusions, it is possible drugs could be the cause of these changes. Note that under the influence of drugs a person can experience psychotic states of mind and behavior. These behaviors usually only last for the duration of the drugs effect on the body.

The signs and symptoms discussed in this article are of serious consequence. Observe the suspected users behavior and see if there are any similarities. Careful consideration must be given towards how to deal with the situation if there are signs of drug abuse, and this is more suitable to another article than to discuss here. Keep in mind that drug addiction may mandate the use of rehab and life long support groups to remain sober.
