Are you a marijuana user looking to quit weed? Do you feel that your pot smoking has become a central force in your life and keeps you from doing the things you want and need to do? Would you like to learn new ways to relax and enjoy your time without feeling the urge to smoke pot? People all over the world suffer from weed addiction, and report feeling that they are in a haze or missing out on what life has to offer them. Marijuana use often starts as as a once-in-a-while activity to relax and release tension, but then becomes a default behavior to cope with stress. Once one is dependent on weed to ease their troubles or to give them something to do, it becomes an extremely difficult habit to break.

If you feel like you are under the control of a marijuana addiction or habit, there are three things you can begin to do to start breaking your habit. Quitting weed is easy for some people and difficult for others, but following these simple strategies will help you on your way to becoming weed-free.

The first step is to identify your problem and come to terms with it. Often people who smoke marijuana will think it is a harmless and “soft” drug, but curse it and swear it off when they feel guilty about it. Remember this: soft drug or not, it is still a drug. Even if marijuana doesn’t have detrimental physical effects, its psychological effects are much more damaging. The guilt and fear of being controlled by pot and not living up to your potential or taking care of your responsibilities can lead to anxiety and depression. If you want to quit smoking pot because it is having negative effects on you, you probably have a problem and need to take steps to fix it. It’s no longer “harmless”. It’s that simple.

Second, you must develop a plan or method to approach your addiction. To quit pot, it’s best to have a game plan for how you want to resolve your problem. For some people, quitting weed cold turkey works. Others who are very tactile develop their own plan of attack by writing out their goals and reinforcing them with their own steps of action. Most people find help in books, audio, or forums where they can discuss these types of goals and find support from other people. Get some materials that will get you revved up and inspired to quit and put them to work in your own way. The most important thing to remember is to stay with your plan, even if you relapse, because persistence yields results.

Lastly, don’t feel bad if you slip up one day. Don’t count your relapses as failures. It’s bound to happen when trying to break an addiction. Remember that no one is perfect, and almost nobody gets it right on their first try — especially if you have been smoking for many years. Each day you don’t smoke is a success, and falling back for one day does not matter in the grand scheme of things. As long as you keep a mind set focused on the outcome of being weed-free, and keep going even if you slip up, you will eventually reach your goal, and rid yourself of marijuana addiction.

The whole topic of marijuana addiction is riddled with controversy. It tends to get either all the wrong type of attention or just no attention at all. On one hand, the evidence that it is addictive in the same way that tobacco, caffeine, or cocaine is addictive is well – weak. Then you have the claims of real people talking about their marijuana addiction, and the description sounds like that of any hard drug addiction. Whatever the case may be, drug rehabilitation centers around the country admit thousands of users each year who seek help with their relationship to marijuana.

To say the prospect of going to rehab is scary or intimidating is only pointing out the obvious. For many, they say it’d be like going to prison – except you can still get drugs in prison! For the record, rehab is far from the prison experience. This article will take a look at what you can count on happening if you go into a detox program for marijuana addiction.

1. Expect a structured, scheduled environment. This means that you will be kept busy with things to do. Don’t worry, time is also certainly allotted towards relation, rest, personal interests, and so on. But what it does mean is that you will have a schedule you are expected to follow. It also means you will not have many decisions or choices to make as to what to do with your time in a broader sense.

2. Personal counseling and therapy. Expect to talk one to one with someone about your drug use, drug history, and your goals in life and your goals in coming to rehab. Personal therapy may be a staple of your rehab experience or just a spare activity.

3. Expect group therapy sessions. This will likely happen very often in rehab, going to group therapy. This provides a safe setting for people to share their stories, connect with another, and offer support to the group. You will not be forced to participate but you will probably want to do so after experiencing one or two sessions.

4. You’ll be given time to exercise. This means usually something simple like hiking but could even mean weight training or swimming, depending on the rehab facility. Exercise offers so many benefits, especially for someone in recovery, that most rehab centers want to get you exercising as part of your road map.

5. You will be given time for rest and even a sort of religious practice. Many people find strength in their faith during a drug addiction program, and rehab centers recognize this by giving you room for such an experience if you feel so inclined. No pressure is going to be put you on, but you will usually have time for “personal rest” and relaxation, which may include spiritual or religious activities.

Confessing up to a drug problem takes real bravery. Marijuana addiction is such as distorted subject in our culture that it makes it even harder when it’s a problem for you. Going into rehab is a huge step in taking control of that problem. By reading this article, you should be mentally prepared for what to face upon admittance into a marijuana addiction treatment facility.

Marijuana addiction is a subject that gets either little attention or all the wrong type of attention. Their is ample evidence that is neither as addictive nor as destructive as legal drugs such as caffeine or tobacco, yet there is also the real world experience of users who claim they are indeed addicted to using this plant to get high. Either way, every year, drug rehab facilities see the admittance of thousands of people seeking help with their behavior in regards to marijuana usage.

1. A scheduled environment with a lot of structure. This is done to keep people busy and active, not bored and left to themselves. Don’t fret – ample opportunity is given to relaxation and personal time, but do expect their to be a schedule that everyone follows for meals and activities.

2. You’ll have therapy. One on one therapy will likely be on the first things you’ll do at a rehab center. This will usually mean going over your drug history, your reasons for coming to rehab, and your goals in life.

3. Expect to see group therapy, with optional participation. You will very likely meet with others dealing with the same problem, although not necessary the same drug of choice, to discuss their personal struggles and success. Participating will be encouraged but not enforced. You should be made to feel comfortable if you choose to only listen and not talk. However, you will get more out of the session by sharing yourself with others.

4. You’ll be given time to exercise. This means usually something simple like hiking but could even mean weight training or swimming, depending on the rehab facility. Exercise offers so many benefits, especially for someone in recovery, that most rehab centers want to get you exercising as part of your road map.
